About This Quote

Pluto was the most distant planet discovered in 1930. It was known as the ninth planet of the solar system. However, in 2006, it was reclassified as a dwarf planet, along with Ceres, Eris, Haumea, Makemake and Quaoar. The reason for this change is that Pluto is no longer considered large enough to be a planet. Asteroids are still considered planets by the International Astronomical Union, but Pluto is counted in the dwarf category because its mass is less than that of Earth.
